Our New Digs

As you can tell from the masthead, the Thornburgs have MOVED!

AGAIN! If you're keeping count, we had an apartment together in Lafayette after college.  Then we bought a house on the south side of Lafayette.  Then we sold our house and moved into a temporary duplex in West Lafayette until we moved up north.  Then we moved into an apartment in Granger when we finally moved up north.  Then we bought a house in South Bend and lived there for 2+ years.  Then we recently sold our house in South Bend and lived with my parents in Rensselaer from the end of June until just last weekend when we moved into our house in Lafayette.  SEVEN! Seven residences, Ah Ah Ah!

We moved into the house last weekend with the help of many many people.  Thanks go out to my parents, Andrew's parents, my brother Brandon and his family, my brother Adam and his girlfriend Steph, and Andrew's friend Nick.  Without them, we wouldn't have been able to do this.  We are so blessed to have such great family and friends.  Yes, we owe you.  Big Time.  :) Especially my parents.  I know they enjoyed having Tommy around but wow did we crowd you for 3+ months.  That's a long time to share one bathroom.  We got close! :)

Sooooo... let's get on to the house.  I won't bore you with all the details (they are here).  I'll just show you the highlights.

The backyard is leafy and gorgeous.  We haven't quite figured out where our property line is yet though.

Check out the Weather Vane!! How cool is that??

 We have a screened-in porch...

 and a deck!

Look at that super cute window baby!

We have built in shelves in the finished part of the basement.

We have creepy handprints in the unfinished part of the basement.  Yikes.

This is the master with the giant window.

This tub is amazing (or as Casey Wilson's character on Happy Endings says, "Am-AH-zing.")  It seriously is HUGE. Love it.

There are great wood floors.  Check out the recessed ceiling with a Mac Daddy chandelier.

We are sooooo blessed to have found this house.  We can't wait to make it our own.  But for now, we just need to organize.  Hopefully we'll get some painting done by the end of the week.  Look for updates in the future! Yay!

More Prunes

Oh dear, not the prunes again.

Kinda looks like blood this time.  Just in time for the new season of Dexter.

Disgusting!! But I couldn't feed him fast enough.  He has started screaming in between each bite.  Any extra little bit that didn't get in his mouth, he would immediately smear across his face.  Seriously prunes, Tommy?

And now they're in your hair.  Fantastic.

After a quick wipe down, he was back to showing off... his teeth.  Can you see them?

 How about now?

Then it was bath time. Gotta get those prunes out of his hair.  We always put toys in the tub and he ends up playing with the soap.  Sounds about right.

He also likes to stand up in the super slippery tub.
You know, the day of his birth was a little fuzzy but I guess we must have gave him the middle name Danger.  Sit down, young man!!

This is Tommy's favorite part about bath time.  Wrap him up in a towel and look in the mirror.  What a cutie pie.  Who wouldn't enjoy looking at that face?

Happy Boys! It's a bath time party!

Sunday with the Neals

Sunday we went over to the Neals to hang out (aka work on Travis and Andrew's podcast, more on that later).
We forgot Tommy's pacifier and he needed to take a nap.  We were held to the mercy of Katie at this point because she gave us a choice of two pacifiers.  One was a kind that he doesn't like.  And the other... the other was a kind that he liked and would use... but... welllll.....
Oh dear.  There should be a state law against that! :-) Actually I accepted defeat on this one.  Naps > Purdue.  Especially after this weekend.

Andrew and Travis worked as hard on their podcast as I worked on Tommy's nap.  There will be more information about their super awesome fun time podcast as soon as they figure out the technology to put it together.  Right now, I would like to point out the fact that they are sharing a set of headphones.  Kind of a slow start but they'll get everything together.
Just so you're aware, it's going to be the greatest podcast in the history of all podcasts.  Bold statement right? I'm just warning you now.  Be prepared.
While they were working on their podcast and after all much needed naps, the future heterosexual life mates, Tommy and Wyatt, were able to play play play.
Here are Mayor McCheese and Serious Sanchez hanging out by the door.
I laughed when I caught this moment.  Wyatt was pushing his car across the end table and Tommy took that as a sign that Wyatt was trying to feed him so he opened up wide to take a bite of the firetruck.  Too funny!

Then the little stinkers decided to take the stand up toy table for a ride.

Don't they just look like they are causing trouble?? (And Tommy looks like he's losing his pants).  Just like their dads.  Today they're pushing around a toy table.  Tomorrow they're creating a slip n slide in their fraternity hallway.

Here's a nice moment with Thomas and Thomas the Train.  You'll have to ignore the poor naked cabbage patch in the background.
I tried to get Tommy to smile at me but he was too busy playing.  He did take a moment to smile at me but he was too fast.  Already back to playing with his train.

Thank you to the Neals for hosting us today! Can't wait to return the favor!

Hardy Baby

Tommy had some vegetables before his bath.
Reminded me a little of Hardy from Laurel and Hardy. :)

Nah, I take that back.  More like John Waters.  He's a John Waters baby.
Yeah that's it.

Our First Friday Wedding

This weekend we went to our first Friday wedding in Sterling Heights, Michigan.  It was quite a drive (4.5 hours) but we had an excellent time.  Plus because it was on Friday, we still had our whole weekend ahead of us when we got home.
It was a beautiful wedding at a gorgeous country club.  You could tell the families of the bride and groom loved to spend time together and loved to party.  And that's what we did.

Beautiful cake! It was also very tasty.

There were peacock feathers in the centerpieces.  Loved it!

They sat our table full of Theta Chis (and their wives) right by the dance floor (behind the middle school table)(right where we belonged). Isn't that dance floor area amazing?

Can you guess which guy we referred to as Hot Damn all night?

I included this picture because you can see the bridesmaids in their dresses.  I've never really seen a bridesmaid dress like this.  It's the teal dresses on the left in case you couldn't tell and thought 3 people showed up in the same exact dress. :) It was really cute and really flattering.  Two of the bridesmaids were pregnant and they all looked fantastic.

As a group, we spent a lot of time watching the people on the dance floor and I was reminded, yet again, that white people can't dance.  Except for these ladies in the purple jackets.  They could cut a rug!

 Grant, Jeremy and Andrew...

 Morgan, Ashley, Diane and Leah...

Andrew accidentally took this picture.  I wonder what he was focusing on. :)

Here are the fellas with the bride.  She looked lovely.

 The obligatory Theta Chi picture.

 The ladies with the groom

I believe it was a christian based ceremony so I'm not really sure why they did the chair lift tradition.  But hey, why not?

 Just don't drop them!

Ashley and Andrew did some major fist pumping as seen on Jersey Shore.

But I'm not really sure what they are doing in this next picture.
Trying to grasp the laser pointer stars from the DJ?
Maybe.

The Cherry Creek was quite the place.

Here we are waiting on our shuttle at the end of the night.

I'll let you fill in the caption for this picture. :)

This one too.  Sheesh, long night, eh?

Great wedding! Congrats to the Drainvilles! Beautiful night for a beautiful couple!
