Tommy's First Roadtrip: Day 2

Day 2 in Nashville! What should we do? How about we go to a Petting Zoo? The place we went was called Lucky Ladd's.  It was in the middle of nowhere. Eaglesville, Tennessee actually.  So we drove to Meeghan's house first and then headed out.

Not without an action shot first.  This is Tommy and Jack jumping and screaming on the stairs at Meeghan's.  Had to get out a little pent up energy before getting back in the car.

We arrived at Lucky Ladd's.  It is a Petting Zoo Extraordinaire! It is 60 acres of pure kid-friendly fun.

We started with the petting zoo.  We saw goats, ponies, geese, chickens, roosters, peacocks, pot-bellied pigs... I can't even remember what all we saw.  But Tommy was amazed.

They would eat right out of your hand!

All the boys loved the animals.  How could you not?

Jack loved the geese.  They were loud!

Then we came upon this part of the zoo.  I called it the allergy-free petting zoo.  It cracked me up.  Tommy was very excited.  These animals don't bite or shed AND they will let you ride them!

 Look Ma, no hands!

The next thing the boys really got into was the Corn Box.  It was a giant sandbox but just filled with corn.  Rhett and Jack were LOVING IT.

We took a closer look at the leaves in the Corn Box and they kind of looked like bay leaves.  If anyone knows why they might put bay leaves in with the corn, please let me know. I'm curious.

Little Ray enjoyed being buried in the corn.

Tommy enjoyed putting a bucket on his head.

I'm not kidding when I say we are still finding corn all over the place even now that we're home. So much stinkin' corn.

Then it was time to move on to the slides.  We started with the small ones.  Tommy didn't know what he was getting into at first.

But he was soon going down the big slides.

 He crawled in tubes...

 He slid down tube slides...

Then he would climb back up the hill again!

He went down with both mama and dada.  Some of those slides were super fast.

We got a cute picture with the boys. We always get a pics of the 3 M's with the boys but we usually don't get a dad's pic with the boys.

Those tire horses were cute but also terrifying. :)

Inside the barn there was a fake cow you could milk.

It was actually water.  Just Tommy's style!

I made Tommy stand in front of something to take a picture.  He better get used to many, many years of standing in front of things so I can take his picture. :)  What a big boy.  He's taller than a cow!

After the petting zoo, we headed back to the hotel to commence napping.  Tommy slept for a half hour.  After that, he was a little slap happy.  He walked around with an iPad cover on his head.

Then we headed over to Meeghan's compound for dinner.  All five boys got to play.  The two boys in the front in turquoise are Tommy (left) and Meeghan's sister Terrah's son Ty.  In the background, you can see Ray (left, Meeghan's), Jack (middle, Megan's), and Megan is holding Rhett (Meeghan's).  Five little boys.  Who would've thought?

They had a ball together. Jack, Raymond and Tommy had a LOT of fun making faces at Meeghan through the window.

Look at these boys from the opposite side of the window.  Is that not the funniest thing?? They are hilarious!

Later than night, we tried to get a shot with the 3 M's boys together.  This was the best shot I got.  Not bad, boys! Good work!

But to get there, we took lots of shots like this...

And THIS.  This is by far the funniest one.  Jack was delivering a high judo kick to the baby, Rhett was crying of course, Ray was starting off into space and Tommy was crying because he was DONE with pictures.  Good times equal good pictures! We laughed for 20 minutes about this picture.

For our pictures of the 3M's with the boys, this was probably the best one I got on my camera.  You might remember a similar picture from last year about this time.
Here's the pic from last year.  My, how the boys have grown.  I love these pictures.  I hope we can continue to take them every year.  Lafayette, Indy and Nashville? We better make it happen!!

We ended up staying pretty late.  All the boys got pretty slap happy.

With Tommy's half hour nap and the fact that he had to be on Benadryl since they had two dogs, plus he was getting itchy, sneezy and rashy, and ALSO, it was getting close to 10 o'clock.... Tommy had several meltdowns.  Poor miserable boy.  He really was doing pretty well despite all that.  Just don't get in the way of Tommy trying to push Mater around!!! He will freak out!
Ahhh much better.

While Tommy pushed Mater around, Raymie and Jack climbed shelves! So cute.

Jack and Tommy grabbed the monitor to check on Ty and Rhett who were sleeping.

When we finally headed back to the hotel, Tommy was so tired he actually let us carry him into the hotel, through the lobby, up in the elevator and to our room without waking up. He also let us change his diaper and put on his pajamas. He stayed asleep the whole time.  That's Tired with a capital T.

Day 2 was a success! Bet you can't wait to see what Day 3 has in store! :-)

Tommy's First Roadtrip: Day 1

We realized in undertaking this trip to Nashville, that Tommy has never been out of the state of Indiana.  Well here we go then! So Friday, we got Tommy up and sent him off to a half day of school.

He got a new backpack since his new class requires one.  Yay frogs!

While Tommy was at school, we packed up our stuff and got ready for the trip.  I had read on a few different sites to wrap up "new" toys for toddlers to unwrap on the trip.  I figured I would give it a try.  I had some leftover wrapping paper from Andrew's birthday.  I bought a few new toys and books and wrapped them up. I also got some Cars stickers from the dollar store.

When we picked up Tommy, it was nap time. So the first part of the trip, he spent napping.  That helped a lot.

Then it came time for presents.  Or as Tommy sees it, something to do!

A new animal book! That kept him busy for awhile.

We crossed the Ohio River and Tommy was in his first new state! Welcome to Kentucky, Tommy T!

We stopped in a scary Louisville Burger King for a snack.  Burger King has an allergy menu! He  can have the chicken nuggets but not the chicken strips.  What's the difference? I have no clue.  Probably shouldn't be eating either of them. ;)

For about a half hour in Kentucky, Tommy played the "Where's Tommy?" game.  He was loving it.  Look at that smile!

 Welcome to Tennessee, Tommy T!!

Nashville came up quite quick! You can see the skyline here.

We got to our Aloft hotel. Tommy enjoyed sitting on the desk so he could view the... parking lot. :)
I'm glad we chose the "allergy free" room.  They allow dogs in the hotel on a regular basis.  There was even dog hair in front of the elevators on our floor.

Tommy LOVED his new home for the weekend.

Glovers got into town around the same time so we went out to dinner with them at Jonathan's.   Thank goodness it was loud in there (it's a sports bar).  Our boys had been in the car too long and they were ROWDY! We had to take them outside for a little bit.

They were SO CUTE together.  Jack and Tommy, best of friends!

Boy was it hard catching a still shot! This is what most of my pictures looked like.

They were so funny running around the parking lot.  They had a lot of pent up energy.

When we got back, Tommy decided to chill a little bit and watch TV.

Then it was time to SWIM! We had the hotel pool all to ourselves.

Tommy jumped in like a big boy! Or maybe he just squatted and scooted in.  Still a big boy though!

He LOVED dada tossing him in the air.

After swimming, it was time for GIRLS NIGHT! Meeghan came and met us at the hotel bar.  We did a shot for my birthday.  It was chocolate covered pretzel.  It was actually very tasty! The bartender suggested it.

So after lots of mixed drinks and a shot, Raymond came and picked up Meeghan up (took this pic of the 3 M's) and we all went back to our rooms to get ready for the next day.  This all happened before 1 am.

The first day of our road trip was a huge success! Day 2 and 3 are still to come! (Don't worry, there will be plenty of pictures.  I only took 250.  Jeez, Morgan.)
