My Sunday on the D-List

On Sunday, my mom, my aunt and I all went to see Kathy Griffin at the Murat Theater for a quick Girls Day Out excursion.  We did a little shopping at Circle Center Mall.  We ate at the Rathskeller.  Then we settled in at the Murat Theater for some raunchy entertainment.

Here we are! I'm not kidding you when I say we were surrounded by gays.  Kathy Griffin has a huge gay following and she talked about it a lot in her show (she was screaming something to the effect, "WHERE ARE MY INDY GAYS?").  She does a lot of work for LGBT rights and she knows who butters her bread. :)  There were about 3 straight guy jokes, though so she's still very equal opportunity.

As you can tell, we had excellent seats.

I'm not kidding you when I say that she spent the first 45 minutes (I timed it) making fun of Elizabeth, Indiana.  Kathy spent the prior night doing two shows at the Horseshoe Casino in that town, "Betty", as she called it.  It was hilarious.  She referenced a lot of Indiana things.  Such as "I'm going to need Peyton Manning to escort me out to my car to make sure I get out of here alive!"

So here she was making fun of Betty, IN, saying it's so nice to be back in a real town.  She made fun of how hillbilly that part of the state is, where you can see a "Powerkeg Fireworks" billboard, then a "PT's Showclub" billboard, then immediately following a "Jesus Saves" billboard.  Tons of hilljack jokes.  But the funniest part of the whole thing was all these people from Indy were like rolling on the floor laughing, "Yeah that's so hillbilly, we're totally not like that."  Ummm, you do realize you're still in Indiana right? Brickyard, anyone? Ok ok, sorry.  That was mean.  :)

So.... sidenote: Not too long ago on Twitter, Kathy Griffin shared this above.

Then when she referred to getting beat by a Ryan Seacrest show at the Emmy's, she made this motion about him...

Ha! That's just naughty.

But the show was really really entertaining.  She made fun of EVERYONE.  No one was spared.  Thousands of F-Bombs were dropped.  Very funny.

On a personal note, she took some time to make fun of the show "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant" which is one of my FAVORITE shows. I was almost giddy! (Yes, that links to the show website, which, by the way, also has a link to how you get ON the show.  Awesome. Think I could fool them? "Der was a baby in ma turrlit!!" Gotta practice my accent.)

It was a super fun trip.  Thanks to my aunt Shiela for putting it all together!
