Weird Things

The Thornburgs are no stranger to weirdness.  Here are some fine examples...

When Dada is away, we like to have picnics in the living room for dinner.  Shh, don't tell Dada!

Apparently Tommy is a vegetarian with two whole servings of veggies for dinner.  Or maybe he just ate everything else and thought the veggies were just for playing.

We like to move the chairs to our driveway so we can watch the traffic go by like hillbillies.  Tommy looks like he has a chaw in his mouth.  HA! Such billies.

Tommy doesn't like to smile for pictures anymore.  He likes to hide his face or look mad.  But I can still get him to smile occasionally by either asking him to say "Roast Beef" (I don't understand why it makes him laugh either) or calling him a poop-head.  Can't wait to hear from daycare on that one!

Finally, his favorite new weird thing is taking his sock off in bed and putting it on his hand during the night.  Just one sock on one hand.  He's done it a few times.  No idea why he started doing it.  Maybe he has a cold hand?  I don't know but it cracks me up.

Erin's Bachelorette Party Weekend

I can't believe it has already came and went! Andrew's sister Erin had her bachelorette party this weekend.  We rented a house in Michigan City for the weekend to relax and get some sun.
We pulled up the house about 7 or 8 and we yelled to the cabbie, "Yo homes, smell ya later!" Ok, not really.  We drove to the house on Friday afternoon.  But we looked at our kingdom, we were finally there! To sit on our throne as the princesses of..... Michigan City.  HA! I can't quit.  But look at this place! So awesome! Four floors? Seriously??

There was a specially made sign for Erin's arrival at the front door.

The view was amazeballs, in the word of Giuliana Rancic.  (Quick fun fact that I just found out, we share a birthday.)
Cait and I shared a bedroom.  It had that same amazing view! Sorry for the crap picture.  You still have some things to work on, iPhone!

I did a quick pano of the 2nd floor.  In the right half of the picture you can't really see but there are four different bedrooms or inlets with a bed. On the left side is the laundry room.  The first floor was actually the garage.  The third floor was the master bedroom and the bedroom Cait and I shared.

The fourth floor was the living area with a large TV.

The kitchen was enormous! Perfect for entertaining!

That's all we did. We sat around, ate and talked most of the time.

Friday night we played some bachelorette games like "Bachelorette Jeopardy".

This game included a category called "Name That Position".  YEESH! I blurred this picture but it's still greatly offensive.  So sorry, readers.  Also, we still couldn't quite figure out how this one was physically and anatomically possible.  I will say it was called The Overpass.  What to the WHAT? No no no.

There was also a "Finish the Love Song" category.  We got to hear Erin sing which is always a super fun treat!! :) There were so many laughs in this game.  Lots of drinking too!

Then it was time for presents.  She got a lot of loot! I won't go much into detail on that either.  You don't need to know. :-)

The next day we walked to the pool via the Beachwalk Resort Community.  White picket fences and colorful houses all the way there.  Such a neat place.

We relaxed by the pool all afternoon.  It was slightly overcast but we were still able to get plenty of sun.

After our time at the pool, we came back to our house for more eating and drinking.  I chose water and the even more exciting sparkling water to fill my favor cup.

Once we all got ready, it was time for a photoshoot! Sister pose!

Preggo pose! I was not the only preggo at the party which was super nice.  I had a lovely partner in crime in which to drink all the water and lemonade.

Indiana pose! The ladies came from all over (Texas, Illinois, Indiana, maybe more?) and the Indiana friends all posed for a picture.

Erin and her bridesmaids pose!

 Bride-To-Be Pose!

We played the Guess the Undies game.

We drank and ate some more (I'm sensing a theme here).

We talked and laughed a LOT.

We also watched the Blackhawks before the we went out.

We went to the Shoreline Brewery for dinner and brews.  It was a super cool little place.  They were really confused by a group of 14 girls showing up dressed to the nines.  The waitress asked us if we came from a beauty pageant.  HA! Yes, yes we did.  Of course we did. Erin won! That's why she's wearing the sash!

They have lots of different beers on tap and one non-alcoholic beer in a bottle, Buckner.  Can you guess which one I drank?

Lots of people got flights to sample the beers.

We also watched the Blackhawks win a very stressful game.

We had an awesome time that night and all weekend too.  The weekend was a super relaxing, fun, fantastic weekend.  I think I can speak for everyone when I say a good time was had by all.
Only 11 weeks left until Miss Thornburg becomes Mrs. Hartley!

Weekend in Enemy Territory

Over the weekend, we traveled to Bloomington for my cousin's graduation party.  My cousin Carson and his family not only live in Bloomington but he is going to Indiana University now that he has graduated high school.  Let me just say, it was a rough weekend for us. :-)
We started the weekend off with a little swimming.  What this picture caught in their faces just cracks me up.  I guess they're blowing bubbles above water.

Most of the pictures turned out more like this.  Action shot!

I took this picture the next morning to send to my mom to tell her to hurry up and come down and eat breakfast with us.  She wrote back, "ARE YOU GIVING HIM EGGS???"  I almost wrote back, "Yes, Mom, we gave him eggs drenched in MILK!" In her defense, that is what it looks like.  Actually those are corn pops.  Breakfast of champions!

Then we packed up our suitcase and checked out of the hotel for a fun day in the sun of a graduation party on a party yacht!!!

Waahh waaahhhhhhhh.  It was raining.  :-( We did not get to take the boat out.  Don't worry, we're rescheduling the party for July.  But this picture also cracks me up.  Two-thumb-Sally is dorking it out.  Shiela is blocking Carson's face possibly on purpose. Tommy is terrified and it looks like Isabel must be hurting Dad.  How is the middle finger flashing, stinkface-making Andrew the most normal looking person in the shot? That never happens!

This picture has more people and is a bit more normal looking.  It still doesn't show all the people that were ready for the party yacht!

I don't think Tommy is quite ready though.

Since it was storming, we headed back to Carson's house for food and fun.

Even Tommy had good food.  Aunt Shiela and Uncle Paul bought Tommy a vegan chocolate cake! No eggs, no dairy, ALL DELICIOUS! He housed that piece of cake.

Tommy also had fun. He played with Carson's old train set (Lilli did most of the work).  Wow, was he impressed by the massive amount of tracks, trains, pieces, and accessories galore!!

Tommy didn't get a nap that day.  He still fought taking a nap all the way home that evening. Man, he is good! I'm sure the iPad was a big help keeping him awake.

Even though we didn't get to take the party yacht out, we still had lots of fun! We WILL get to take it out soon! And we will have to visit the Bloomingfoods Bakery for more delicious vegan treats!! Way less likely for us to have a vegan bakery in West Lafayette but we'll keep looking.  Maybe Bloomingfoods will ship!

Office Visitor

Today I was lucky enough to be surprised by a fellow named Thomas. Andrew needed to trade cars with me late in the day so he brought Tommy with him.  Tommy felt the need to make some calls.

Do you think he's working hard or hardly working?

Tommy's 2.5! The 30 Months Post

My dear sweet Tommy.  On Monday, you turned 30 months old.  You are two and a half years old now! Sometimes, like when you are getting in trouble, I have to stop and remind myself that you are only two and half years old.  But sometimes I freak out realizing it's been two and half YEARS since you came into the world! It has really flown by. When I look at old pictures of you, that's when it really hits home.
This is you these days.  Driving a tractor.  Such a big boy!

This was you a year ago (at 18 months).  You have lost a lot of your baby look, especially those chubby cheeks.  I think about that outfit and how small it is compared to what you wear now...

Until I look at a picture like this (at 6 months).  This was two years before the first picture.  You were 6 months old.  We were in the throws of eczema.  (If you feel like reliving the awful memories, you can read the post I took this picture from.  It's a doozy.)

You have come so far health-wise.  No more puking, hardly any rashes/eczema, asthma is under control.  Things are really going much better for you in the health department.  I don't know if it's because you're older and your system is much stronger... or if we have become smarter, more medically savvy parents.  Probably some of both.

You have become quite the high energy kid as of late.  Again, I don't know if it's the daily inhaler or just your age (99% has to be his age) but you are one silly wild boy.  ESPECIALLY right before bed.  It's on the bed, off the bed, run around in circles 12 times, scream like a banshee and start over again!  You're also really good at negotiating and stalling. "Just one more book, Tommy."  "Just three more books, Dada."  If that doesn't work, you TALK.  And talk... and talk... and talk... to stall your bedtime. Tonight you told Dada the name of every single person that has ever walked through the door of your daycare.
You also like to talk in general.  If we are not totally paying attention you will repeat the same thing over and over again until we acknowledge you, then you say it 5 more times.  Ha!
You enjoy cracking up to yourself to little inside jokes.  Your laugh is hilarious.
You are still incredibly sweet.  You stopped me in the aisle at the grocery store just to give me a hug.  Then I melted, of course.
I think in the last month or so, you have grown what seems like two inches.  Pants that used to fit you and are now high-waters.   You eat so much! Maybe it's a growth spurt? But what an appetite you have.

You are quite the big boy.  The big boy bed is going pretty well as you can tell from the following pictures.
Looking comfy!

Tommy, you are growing up so much and soon your life will change when you get a baby sister.  I think you will be a wonderful big brother.
I mean, someone needs to be trying out those headbands!

Tommy, we are so proud of you.  You are one awesome little dude.  We couldn't be happier to be your parents.  Happy 2.5 years, Tommy Hawk.
