A Little Get Together with the Ladies

So this weekend, we decided to have a quick get together since my friend Krissi was going to be in town from Alabama. Krissi kept saying that she had a surprise for me.  I really had no idea what to expect and I never could have guessed in a million years what this surprise would entail.
Wellllllll.... you may want to avert your eyes if you have a sensitive stomach.

Yeah, that's what you think it is.  (Or if you're my mom, you think it's a baby with a weird-looking pink blanket wrapped around it.)  It is truly homemade by Krissi.  She even went to Michaels to get the spray paint icing stuff.  A-maahhh-zing.
Krissi bought 3 different dolls at Goodwill to figure out which size head would look best.  (She is in nursing school right now and just finished her OBGYN clinical so she should know!) She felt weird about buying these weird looking dolls at Goodwill so she told the guy, "Don't worry, I'm only buying these to use their heads." I'm sure that cleared things right up for the guy. :-)

So since the cake was a little graphic we decided not to bring it to the restaurant where we ate lunch.  We did get a quick group picture.  Mandy had to leave early so she is not pictured. :( But there are two preggos on the left (I'm allowed to say that now, right Megan? We are practically Two Peas in a Pod again, just like 17 weeks apart as opposed to just 2).  Maria and Krissi are on the right.  Or as Andrew said, "Did you have lunch with Manute Bol?"
How tall were those heels, girl?
I just googled him and found this.  I had to include it.
Somebody online was having fun with photoshop.

So after lunch and shopping, I came home to my two fun dudes.  We were going to grill out but then realized we were out of propane.  Steak N Shake it was!

Steak N Shake really goes all out for the kiddies.  A hat, a cardboard car, a cool plastic take home cup, and kids eat free all weekend.

Most of the time, the only way I can convince Tommy to let me take pictures of him is to do selfies.

Gotta have fun with it!

So that evening, I decided to have some cake but I had to get a doll head out of the way. What do you do with a disturbing doll head covered in creepy icing? Have a photo shoot, of course!

Goodness gracious, that's terrifying.

Thanks, ladies, for the wonderful Saturday! So great to see you all.  Thank you Krissi for the unforgettable baby shower cake. :-)  You are an artist!

29 Weeks: This is Familiar Territory

So here I am.  All beached-whaley.  Twenty-nine weeks and counting.  Actually the number I'm looking at is 11. Eleven weeks left! That is a chump change amount of weeks when I think back on how fast the first 29 weeks have went.  AAH! No time! So much to do!
What's Happening with Baby T2:
Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (about the size of a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for her developing brain. To meet her increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because her bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.

Here's me with Tommy at 30 weeks (sadface explained in the link).  Big ol' round difference there. :-)

But the similarities are uncanny.  There are slight differences of course but something will happen and I'll be totally taken back to 2010.  One of the first moments that took me back was waking up with a horrendous foot cramp.  Oh the foot cramps.  Totally forgot about those.  I had to put all the weight of my body on my foot to get it to bend back to a normal position.... at 3 in the morning, of course.  Oh such good memories. Ha!
Another symptom that has come up lately is heartburn or reflux or whatever this is.  It's just an acidic feeling rising up in the esophagus.  I had that last time too.  Will the baby be born with hair?? Very possible!
The last repeat symptom is the freakiest.  Nightmares!  Oh what fun.  I had a dream that in the hospital they knocked me out, took my baby, and then performed all kinds of freak surgeries on me.  I woke up covered in stitches from my neck to my hips and I had no idea where my baby was.  Not cool, Brain. Not cool.  Let's not have those dreams anymore.

The major difference is the baby acrobatics.  Tommy moved a lot but it didn't feel like this.  It feels like constant pointy elbows, knees and fingers.  It's crazy to watch my belly move all over the place.  She's super active which is fantastic but very distracting.

In other news, my co-workers just threw me a baby shower.  It was so much fun.  A small dinner party with 6 people and they gave me enough baby clothes, blankets, bibs, and socks to fill a laundry basket.
From 5 people?? Seriously? How awesome!  They got me the cutest clothes, I tell ya.  I can't wait to put them on Baby T2.

OH and a second side note:  Tommy has chosen another name for the baby that has a better ring to it than Santa Claus.  We asked him one night what he would like to name the baby.  He thought about it and said "Applesauce."
So Baby Applesauce, it is.  So trendy!

Showered Like the Dickens

Over the weekend, I went to a baby shower thrown for my friend from college.  Ashley was my roommate in my sorority and she's a Lafayette native, so I didn't have to travel too far to go to the shower.

The shower was a lovely ladies affair.  Like an adult tea party! It was awesome!

We ate and then watched Ashley open her gifts.

Pink, pink and more pink! That's not something I'm used to.  :)

Look at all that loot...

And so neatly organized!!

Look at those 118 Fowler ladies! (Back L-R: Amanda, Mandy; Front L-R: Traci, Ashley, Morgan)
I love this picture.  It turned out great.  (By the way if you want a copy, click on the picture, then right click on the enlarged picture to Save As to save your own copy. Then you can upload to Snapfish or Kodak or print at home.)

After the shower, Mandy, Traci and I went to Scotty's for some post-shower moments with Tommy boy.   I think Tommy remembers Mandy from when he was 6 weeks old! Aww!

Chillin' with Traci. He's done this before!

Then Tommy let us know that it was time for a bottle.  So we warmed it up in a travel coffee cup with hot water (spilling it all over the table of course). Look at Tommy and Traci having a good time in the background!

What a big boy in his big chair! He's taken to throwing his toys down so we have to attach them to his chair.

Best of luck to Ashley and her Happ Happ Happy bundle of baby girl joy!

Lindsey's Shower

This weekend was very busy for us but we'll start with the first event.  Lindsey's Shower!

Lindsey and I go way back.  I mean WAAYYY back.  Lindsey, now that I know you read this blog, you're gonna be sorry! :)

How far back do Lindsey and I go? If I had the picture of us getting our first communion together, I would post it but I don't.  But what do I have???????
My middle school scrapbook!!! (This scrapbook really prepared me for the blogging world.)
Here's a fun page to start with.  You can click for a closer look.  SOOOOO funny.

So anyway, here's a picture from back in the day when I brought Lindsey along with my family to some amusement park.  I'm not sure which one it is right now. (Six Flags? Cedar Point? Kings Island? No idea.)  If anyone can recognize it, let me know.
But this is my brother Adam, Lindsey and me.  Nice Blossom hat, GEEK! Lindsey looks thrilled to be sitting next to two huge Keiper dorks.  :)

Anyway, Lindsey is having a BABY! So I went to her baby shower on Saturday.

Lindsey's mom is a professional decorator and she decorated our wedding...

So of course her baby shower was going to be decorated well. Boy, was it ever!
 The chairs had covers! Amazing!

 There were lit candelabras!

Everyone had a rhinestone bracelet (the little girls got tiaras) wrapped around their cloth napkins that we could take home.
That wasn't the only party favor. We also got cute little gift bags!
There was a fabulous dessert bar. The middle one is a shot glass of cotton candy! Sweet! (Literally!)

Lindsey got a whole lotta loot!

Including a "Hooter Hider" nursing cover. Hilarious!

All that paper made quite a mess.

We got the obligatory high school girls shot. Doesn't Lindsey look cute?

Then we got a picture of the "Princes of the Party".  I think it was a little too much pink for Tommy. :)

Happy Shower, Lindsey! Can't wait for your little 'Junebug' to get here !!
