I have never been to a school Halloween party. Usually the teachers send pictures. It works out better for the kids (especially mine) to not have mom or dad show up because they want to leave with mom/dad and they lose it. But not this year! I have two big kids now. They did great!
I got there just in time for Tommy's class picture. He was so excited to have me there.
Then Charlotte's room started their parade so I headed over to see them. Charlotte didn't see me watching for a long time. Also, can you see her sleeves? Her teacher didn't quite get her arms in her sleeves. Oh well, it's a hard dress to put on! So fancy! ;-)
I fixed her sleeves while her class got their treat bags out of their cubbies. How was she the only princess in her class? She wanted to be Aurora badly. There was no convincing her otherwise. I made her an octopus costume and she wasn't having it. Not when she can be "Rora"!
I sat the teeny tiny table with Charlotte while they waited to Trick or Treat. Charlotte started to lose it when I started to leave to see Tommy (case in point from why I haven't been to a party yet) but I snuck her some candy and she was instantly fine. Candy solves all Charlotte's problems right now.
I went back over and sat with Tommy while she trick or treated around the school.
Here comes Charlotte with her buddy Sloanie (you know her from Tommy's buddy Owen, it's his little sis). She did great! She had a job to do. Collect more CANDY!! She is obsessed.
Then it was Tommy's turn to Trick or Treat.
When Tommy trick or treated in Charlotte's class, I made him stay for a second so I could get a picture with the two of them. Charlotte had a mini snickers in her mouth. Ha! CAAAANNNDDDYYY!! :)
She's still chewing!
I went BACK over to Tommy's class. They were having a piece of candy. They are adorable.
They have 12 in their class. Preschool teachers are so amazing. I wish I knew their secrets. Tommy's teacher is especially awesome. Those kids love what they are doing and it's all because of her!
This is my favorite picture from the day. Look at that kid. Is he not the cutest boy you've ever seen?

First Day of School 2015
Who's Ready for the First Day of School?????
These two are!! Their first day of school was August 10th. (Have I ever mentioned that school used to start after my birthday? Well it used to, back in the olden days. :) Anyway, Tommy is moving into Pre-K (learning to read, field trips, homework??? Whaaaa?) and Charlotte is moving into the two's class (potty training, colors, numbers, letters, oh my). They're growing so fast.
Check out their super cute first day of school outfits. Awww!
This class is for real now for Tommy. It's kinda crazy. He had a poster project the second week! Make a poster for homework? What's next, a powerpoint presentation?? Yikes!
So here's the poster. The project was make a poster to show why you're special. It was pretty open ended. This is what we came up with. I had Tommy pick the pictures. He picked out and put on stickers. We only had Elmers glue (no glue stick) so we intervened with the gluing. There was still glue EVERYWHERE.
It was really hard to let go and let him do it. He wanted to write his name in the middle in pink crayon. He did but you couldn't read the letters on the dark poster board so I offered to cut out letters. That did not go well. But he was having a bad day. The next morning, I showed him the letters I cut out and he was totally excited and glued them on himself (with a teeny bit of a OCD mom help ;-) I thought the poster turned out great! It cracks me up that he put all the stickers in one spot. Super cute. He's got an eye for design, I think. Don't you?? ;-)
Tommy LOVES his new class and new teacher. He is also glad Cooper is back from summer vacation. He barely says bye when we drop him off. It makes me really happy that he loves it so much.
Charlotte, on the other hand, is going through a separation anxiety stage with her new class. :( Drop offs are not going well right now. She's also having trouble following classroom rules. I hope it gets better quickly. I remember Tommy having trouble at this age too. It's only been two weeks so hopefully she comes around and gets used to the new class very quickly. Potty training was going well at the very first few tries but now she's not interested anymore. She's not even two! Hopefully she's show interest in doing that sometime soon too.
Wish them luck on a great new school year!

The Carnival
Tommy and Charlotte's daycare/school held their annual fundraiser over the weekend. We have never attended the carnival before and this was the first weekend we didn't have plans so we decided to go for it.
Right before we left, Charlotte and Tommy were fighting over a tape measure and Charlotte sliced her thumb open. It looks pretty nasty and we almost took her to urgent care but we were able to stop the bleeding and bandage it up so we opted not to go.
The kids were definitely glad we chose the carnival. There was a 2 and under room with a bounce house that Charlotte loved. Look at that air time!
You could dunk a teacher! Tommy thought that was exciting.
You could get your picture taken.
Charlotte cracks me up in the this picture.
The kids loved sliding in their bounce houses.
I'm not kidding when I say Tommy probably went down the slide 100 times. Ok maybe not that many but definitely 40 times.
Charlotte and her friend Zoe had a great time playing in the 2 and under room. They were so cute together.
Then we watched a magician. No one would sit very close. It was an 'interesting' show, I guess I'll say.
Andrew finally asked at the end if he could go down the slide. Of course he could!
Look at that smile! He was waiting to do that all day!
At the end they had a drawing. I put Tommy's name on probably 10 tickets and he won two door prizes. He won the boys toy basket and the sports basket. The toys were a ninja turtle, a captain america shield, a bunch of hot wheels, monster trucks, power rangers thingy, a giant track thing, and a $25 toys r us gift card. The sports basket was a Matt Painter signed basketball, a bunch of sauces and a $25 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings.
Tommy made out like a bandit!! Look at all that loot. He was so excited about winning. He's apparently very lucky too! Wow!! 2 out of 6 door prizes!! Are you kidding me?? There was a boy whose family put in 38 tickets try to win the toys. The boy and his brother came up after the drawing. The brother said, "He really wanted to win the prize. Can he have just one of the toys?" We thought it was an odd request but we agreed because it was awkward already. He picked out a set of hot wheels cars. He told us he really liked hot wheels. I was glad we could at least cheer him up a bit.
First year attending the carnival was definitely a success!!

Field Day 2015
The kids had their annual last day of school party, aka Field Day. (Remember last year? and the year before? They go outside and do all kinds of fun activities. The parents are invited to come play and eat lunch with their kiddos. This year we were both able to go. It was super cute.
Charlotte's class wore Blue for the Dr. Seuss class.
Tommy hung with the 1's class (the 1's class absolutely LOVES Tommy) for a bit.
This activity was pool noodles, toilet plungers, and kickballs. Even the teachers didn't know what to do with this. The kids had a ball though!
Then Tommy went with the 3's class for his obstacle course. His class tye-dyed their shirts green. They are the frogs class.
Sack races!
Watch out Cooper! He's gaining on you!
Tommy is going to miss Cooper this summer. But he'll be back this fall again.
Tommy and Charlotte got to play on the playground while waiting for the bounce house to come open.
Then it was time to JUMP!! Check out that height! ;)
That is literally what he is telling us to do in this picture.
Don't forget to slide out!
Then it was time for popsicles! Even Charlotte and all the parents got one in Tommy's class.
Did someone say water balloons??
Yep, definitely water balloons! Watch out!!
Then water tables! Turns out, Charlotte can HANG with 4 year olds (most of the kids in the class are already 4 by now). She had no problem playing with them. Too funny.
These two. I can't imagine when Tommy has to move on to another school. What fun they have together. Slow down, time, please.
One quick story: We ate lunch on the floor of the gym, all the parents, teachers and kiddos. Tommy's teacher, Miss Debbie, said, "Tommy, are you having an almond butter and jelly?" He said he was. She said, "I always ask him if he will let me try it but he never lets me!"
Tommy leaned over to me and said, "I let her smell it once."
I laughed so hard. Poor kid was mad that I was laughing because he didn't understand why I thought it was so funny. He was so serious. Oh Tommy. You are hilarious.

Field Day 2014!
The last day of school for Tommy's daycare is always a super fun day. They do all kinds of outdoor activities and have lots of fun. Tommy had 2 fun days in a row because they went on a bear hunt the second to last day of school.

They had popsicles!

How cute are those little bags Miss Kristin made? They loved it! Crossed a peanut butter river and ate teddy grahams. Lots o' fun!
So the last day of school for the school year was also Miss Kristin's last day. She's going to have her baby soon and stay home with her kids from now on. We are really sad she's leaving but very happy for her.

This is a class photo from their day. They are the caterpillars as you can see on their shirts.

They had a parade and waved their flags.

They played Tug of War... Sort of.

They played on the water tables.

They played on the Bounce House. Look it's the old original crew!! Tommy, Owen, Layla and Logan (minus Landon).

Slide time!

Charlotte also had her field day but I didn't get any pictures. But she did get this amazing onesie made by her teacher.

Each baby in her class had a handprint made into an owl on a tree. Adorable!

You can see it a little better here. Soooo cute!
Summer session starts now so there will be less kids and less curriculum but Splash Days will be back! Yay for Summer!!
