Rock the Arts Festival

A couple Saturdays ago, we headed up to Rensselaer and went to the Rock the Arts festival.  They had art, music, and really good food so I was excited.
They also have crazy things for the kids to do.  Like this contraption that was artsy fartsy but also something you could stick your head in and communicate through.  Ha!  Luckily for me, it wasn't MY kids who knocked it down later that evening.  Yikes.

They had a "Selfie Station" I guess you would call it.  They had hand painted emojis.  You can see my Charlotte's favorite emoji here.
They had a car you could use markers to color all over.

Tommy loved that part the best, as you can tell.  There was a little boy who shoved a paint marker in his mouth and he looked like... well he looked like he ate paint with a spoon.  His mom was freaking out.

There was a door fountain for the kids to run through.  You give kids an inch when it comes to water and all the sudden they are soaked.  Who knew, amirite?? ;-)

They enjoyed watching the Iroquois pass by on the new pedestrian bridge.

They also enjoyed playing with a daughter of someone I graduated with.  Of course they were playing with the emojis.  Charlotte has a microphone (took us a second to figure that out) and Tommy and his new friend were playing with the Pokemons, Pokemen? Pokeballs? Whatever.

Charlotte enjoyed the music very much.  Why do kids grab your forehead when on your shoulders? I guess it makes a good handle.

We enjoyed all the bands but especially the last one.  I think they were from ATL? Crazy! They even yelled something like, "WHAT'S UP RENSSELAER??"  Haha!

It was a very late night so we decided to spend the night at my parents house.  The kids LOVED that!

It was hard to get them to leave the next day. But what a fun little quick trip to rock out, eat food and see art.

Busy Little Saturday

First up, I drove down to Zionsville for Erin's baby shower. She got a lot of great stuff but the best thing was probably this below.

Hope the baby likes Peyton as much as much as his/her mom!!

After that I drove to the south side of Indy to celebrate baby Dean turning two! Andrew and the kids met me there. Charlotte hung out with her buddy bubba Reese. I think Charlotte has a mouth full of food here.

It was a very typical birthday party due to the mass chaos during the present opening. So funny. I'm pretty sure Jack has nothing on under that Superhero costume. Too funny!

Tommy enjoyed Dean's presents!

Dean loved his birthday cake!!

The kids loved playing in the bounce house (until the big kids came down).

After that, I drove all the way up to Renssy for our very informal high school reunion. No one had planned anything so Sarah posted on Facebook that we should meet at the pub if anyone was in town. We had about as big of a turn out as the 10 year reunion.

Not even 10% and only one guy showed up but we didn't care! We still had a great time! We got a picture pretending to be courthouse critters.

We had to get the courthouse in the background too! Good times!

Crazy Saturday but lots of fun!

Suuuuuper Quick Catch Up Post...

Ok folks. I haven't blogged in almost 2 months.  I barely remember how to do it.  So now I have to catch up... and catch up I will.  As Andrew and Samuel L Jackson say, "Hold on to your butts..."

So what did we do in the last two months?? Well...
We went to a wedding with my parents of someone with whom I work.

 The kids had school pictures.

We hung out with Wyatt, Harper and Everett.

We went to Burger King before Wyatt and Harper's b-day party.

Even Andrew got in on the action.

The party was at a gym so all my pictures were blurry because there was so much action.  I got one that was sort of in focus at least!

 We had cupcakes! YUM!

Wyatt and Harper did too! Super fun birthday party!

Then we had T-burg Thanksgiving at our house!

Charlotte was a big fan of Thanksgiving!! YUM!

We also celebrated Tommy's birthday at Thanksgiving.  Dragon Party!

On the Friday after Thanksgiving, my high school football team, the Renssy Bombers went to the State Finals.  THEY WON THE STATE 2A CHAMPIONSHIP! Charlotte cannot believe it!!

It was awesome for so many reasons (such as this, and this and this this this...)

It was a real high school reunion for many of the classes that graduated from RCHS.  We had over 6000 in attendance (more than the population of the town of Rensselaer) and people came from all across the country to see the Bombers play in the Luke.  People streamed the game online from several different countries and many, many states.  Very exciting.

The next day we set up our Christmas tree!

 And Charlotte had some yogurt!!

We had Christmas with the Keipers at my parents where Tommy celebrated his birthday again!

Tommy got a new chair as one of his gifts and Charlotte decided it was hers.

Tommy had his own little glow stick party.

I temporarily considered using this as my Christmas card this year.

How does one get into a situation like this at Target, Miss Charlotte?

Final picture of the super quick round up... Uncle Adam took Tommy for a ride in a Target bag!

Ok so that was the catch up post... Now it's on to DISNEY! Stay tuned!!

Harvest Time 2013

Sunday was the first chance we've been able to make the road trip to Renssy for harvest.  Tommy was so excited to ride in the combine.  He got a real treat that day.

He went in the combine without mom or dad.  Just Tommy and Grandpa!

He told us before we left, "Charlotte can't go in the combine.  She is not big like Tommy." He was absolutely adamant.

So when he got to go by himself and have the side seat all to himself, well... he was ecstatic.  You can't tell from his face because he's very serious but he was (McDonald's theme- ba da ba ba baaah) LOVIN' IT.

It was a beautiful day too.  One of the last days we didn't need jackets.

Then we had dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's.  Grandpa finally got to hold Charlotte.  We had so many visitors at the hospital that he never got to hold her.  Then he was so busy with harvest that it just never happened.  So finally Charlotte 'officially' meets Grandpa.  :-) She's lovin' it too!

Weekend Sports Wrap-Up

The Rensselaer Bombers won sectionals and headed to Bremen to play the Lions for regional championship on Friday night. Since it was so close, we decided to go.  Talk about a killer game! Wow.  Stress.

Ok this will be fun.
Morgan's recap of the game Friday night:
So they were tied, like, the entire game.  Bombers would run down and score and then the Lions would run down and score.  Back and forth, back and forth.  Then I had to empty my bladder so I extricated myself from the crowded shrieking bleachers and made my way for what seemed like miles to the school bathroom.  These screaming mimi high school girls were in the bathroom and when I walked in they all got quiet and kinda stared at my belly like, "Whoa, I hope that doesn't happen to me anytime soon."  Then I got some food and went back to the bleachers.  The score went up but they were still tied.  Andrew said the Bombers used a fleaflicker play and scored and then the Lions successfully completed a double fleaflicker shortly after that.  Sounded pretty cool.
Then in the final seconds of the game, the Bomber punter missed which sent them in to overtime.  In high school they take turns starting you on the 10 yard line.  Bombers went first.  It took only two plays (plus a penalty) to score.  My dad's friend's son scored the touchdown (which happened to be the winning touchdown) on his 18th birthday. Talk about a birthday present.
So what happened next after that touchdown?
Fourth down, four yards to go, ball was on the four (and that last 4 was a bonus from the 4th quarter).  Lucky number 4 for the Bombers.  They stopped 'em! The crowd erupted! The kids rushed the field (pausing to be respectful on the track until told they could go out and do the Bomber Jacks with the team).
Very very cool ending, indeed.
I switched to night mode on my camera which was dumb.  My pictures were all blurry.  But you get the idea.  Very exciting for the Rensselaer Bombers.  They travel to Fort Wayne on Saturday to play the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (Turns out, they're pretty good. That was the first link when you Googled them).  Bombers played them last year in semi-state and were beaten.  This year, the Bombers will be back and ready to fight.  Hopefully they can pull out a win and go to STATE!!! ONE CITY, ONE TEAM, ONE GOAL!

(I bet the Bombers were ticked when they found out the Bears stole their phrase.)

So yeah, that was MY version of what happened in the game.  If you want to read what sportswriters have to say, then check Renssy's paper or the Journal and Courier for their articles.  Waaay less entertaining, I say.

Let's transition to hockey, shall we?

Andrew had a hockey game on Sunday night.  It was fairly early so I decided to go.  I haven't been to a game in awhile since all the games are at 9:30 or 10 pm.

He gets better and better every game! I didn't see him fall down once! (He might have but I missed it if he did!)

Something else exciting happened in this game....
HE SCORED HIS SECOND GOAL!! YEAH!! I did not capture this one on video though.  Bummer.  I missed it too! I looked down at my stupid phone for a second and looked up and everyone was cheering.  Dang it. He said this goal was just like his last but he didn't fall down.  He just, as the saying goes, slipped one past the goalie.  Way to go Andrew!!!
If you want to watch the clip of the old one to relive old memories, then go HERE

Great game, Drewfus! (No, they didn't win, but Andrew scored a third of the points!)

Congrats to the Renssy Bombers and to Andrew on your exciting sports accomplishments this weekend!
