My Shy Guy

Tommy has suddenly decided that he doesn't like me taking pictures of him anymore. Bummer.
So I can either way until he's asleep...

Or very far away...  (This is Tommy's version of mowing during the winter. Anything he can push around is considered mowing to him)

As soon as I get close, he puts his hand out and tries to push the camera away.  Oh Tommy.  You can't stop your mother from taking pictures of you.

I guess I'll have to be very, very sneaky from now on, Thomasaurus.

Snow Snow Snow!!

We are just now seeing how much having a child makes everything new again.  Like snow!
The look on his face was so incredible.  He had no idea what it was but he was so excited!

He even did a Michael Flatley Riverdance step (snow makes you want to dance!).

It was about 20 degrees so we only spent about a minute outside but it was enough to capture the look of amazement on his face.  The awesome thing is there is so much more to discover.  I can't wait!

Thought You Might Be Missing Brian...

Poor Brian.  He used to be the star of this blog until Tommy came along. So just in case you've been missing Brian and all his glory, here's a video of the family pre-Tommy.

We took this video 10 days before Tommy was born.  We had just gotten our new HD video camera.  I haven't posted any videos from this camera yet so I thought I better get started. Brian even does his famous Aflac thing in this video.
Our lives were just a teeny bit different then.

Here's a video from 5 days before Tommy was born.  It was just a little snowy.

Welcome back to the blog after long hiatus, Brian!

Snowtorious B.I.G.

Recently the nation was in a tizzy about the Snowpocolypse.  Most states got some amount of snow.  It was ridiculous for everyone but us northerners.  We didn't call it a snowpocolypse, we just called it Wednesday.  We got 2 feet and then another foot.  No big deal.  But the pictures are pretty cool so I just had to post them.

This is (doo doo doo) looking out our backdoor.
This is looking out our front door.  The plows had already been by.  Thanks be to the plows!
This is our neighbors front yard.
One nice thing is that Brian can't run for the hills when the snow is taller than him.
The sky was absolutely gorgeous that day.
The snow actually built up on those monkey bars! Can you believe that? You can see the snow hanging down in between each one.
Brian still looks for animals in the snow.
Those are our patio tables collecting snow.  Lots and lots of snow.
I can't believe how the snow piles up in the weirdest places...
... and hangs off the edge of everything.
Here is the sun setting across the street.  Beautiful!
I finally got stir crazy enough in the house that I decided to shovel off the patio tables.  I figured that much snow might break the glass tables.
I let Brian go potty unrestrained!!! He busted his butt to get back into the house.  It was cold!
Thanks for taking pictures, Andrew.  I want to remember what I looked like shoveling snow after not showering for days. :)  (Don't blame me! I'm on maternity leave.  I believe 'maternity' is derived from the latin word 'dirtball'.)

Oh, so this is what they were talking about.....

Morgan and Andrew: Welcome to the Great White North!!

We went over to our neighbor's house yesterday to watch the Purdue game and hang out.  We heard on the news that we might be getting a foot a snow.  Yeah, right, we thought.  When we walked out to our car to leave....

Andrew thought it was an appropriate moment for some metal head banging and thrashing.

Of course, not believing in our local weather people, we had prepared nothing to clean off our cars.  Andrew improvised.

That snow was stacked up!

Of course the snow plow hadn't been through our neighborhood at that time of night yet so we plowed through the deep snow with our all wheel drive.

Yep, that's a foot of snow!

Brian couldn't get his paw wet since it was bandaged so he had to have a plastic bag on his foot when he went out. Again, poor guy.

Deep snow! It was so deep, it was up to Brian's nose.

The next morning, since we don't have a snow blower like all the other people in our neighborhood, we had the shovel ourselves out.

Mission Accomplished!

Andrew's friend Nick went snowmobiling in Michigan and he left his truck at our house.  Hope he doesn't mind hauling some South Bend snow back home!

We had to shovel out our deck too so Brian could go potty.

You have to admire how beautiful a foot of snow can be (after you cuss mother nature for all the shoveling you had to do).

It's just amazing!

Here's our grill somewhere in that snowy whiteness....

Speaking of the Boilermakers, did you see that game yesterday? Wow.  Go Boilers!!

These guys were cracking us up during the game.

The signs were pretty good this game.

Ahh, wish we could've been there!

Go Boilers!

So our new year started off with a Boiler win and a foot of snow.  Both ended up being tons of fun.  And by tons, I mean, my back hurts.  Too much shoveling.  Time to go lay down.
