Oh, so this is what they were talking about.....

Morgan and Andrew: Welcome to the Great White North!!

We went over to our neighbor's house yesterday to watch the Purdue game and hang out.  We heard on the news that we might be getting a foot a snow.  Yeah, right, we thought.  When we walked out to our car to leave....

Andrew thought it was an appropriate moment for some metal head banging and thrashing.

Of course, not believing in our local weather people, we had prepared nothing to clean off our cars.  Andrew improvised.

That snow was stacked up!

Of course the snow plow hadn't been through our neighborhood at that time of night yet so we plowed through the deep snow with our all wheel drive.

Yep, that's a foot of snow!

Brian couldn't get his paw wet since it was bandaged so he had to have a plastic bag on his foot when he went out. Again, poor guy.

Deep snow! It was so deep, it was up to Brian's nose.

The next morning, since we don't have a snow blower like all the other people in our neighborhood, we had the shovel ourselves out.

Mission Accomplished!

Andrew's friend Nick went snowmobiling in Michigan and he left his truck at our house.  Hope he doesn't mind hauling some South Bend snow back home!

We had to shovel out our deck too so Brian could go potty.

You have to admire how beautiful a foot of snow can be (after you cuss mother nature for all the shoveling you had to do).

It's just amazing!

Here's our grill somewhere in that snowy whiteness....

Speaking of the Boilermakers, did you see that game yesterday? Wow.  Go Boilers!!

These guys were cracking us up during the game.

The signs were pretty good this game.

Ahh, wish we could've been there!

Go Boilers!

So our new year started off with a Boiler win and a foot of snow.  Both ended up being tons of fun.  And by tons, I mean, my back hurts.  Too much shoveling.  Time to go lay down.

Poor Brian!

Poor poor Brian! He ran down the stairs too fast and the thumbnail on his paw broke in a very painful place.

"WE'VE GOT A BLEEDER!"

Andrew took Brian to the vet and as it turned out, he was a half hour late for his Lyme Disease shot that we had forgotten about! (Brian really wanted to go to the vet today!)
They gave Brian his shot and clipped off the rest of the injured thumbnail. He was fine with all of that. But when they tried to clip the rest of his nails? Watch the F out!! He did NOT like that!
Our vet is great though. Purdue grad who wraps Brian's foot in Purdue gold!

So that's the story about how Brian ended 2009 with a bang!

Sweet Baby Ray Meets The Thornburgs

We finally  got to meet Sweet Baby Ray (SBR), or Raymond Jr, this weekend!
What a cutie! He's precious!!!!

He's especially cute when he's PISSED.  Then 3 seconds later, he's happy again.  It's so funny.

Note to self: Don't chew gum in pictures. :)

Adorable!

Meeghan is SUCH a cute mommy!! Yay for Meeghan! It was so great to see you. I hope I get to see you again soon.  New Mexico has been good to you guys but we can't wait until you move back!!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It was a White Christmas this year, that's for sure.  The snow was lovely but the ice was not.  But hey, it's still better than the county emergency from last year which took us 7 hours to get to Rensselaer.  Can't complain!

Anyway, we had our Christmases last week.  They were stupendous. Great gifts, great food, great family time. We had ourselves a merry little Christmas.
So let's get to the fun pictures and videos (yes, videos this post! So exciting!).
This is Andrew cutting up the ham.  I started to cut up the ham but then everyone looked at me and said, Do you know what you're doing? I admitted that I did not.  So Andrew took over. (Brian waits patiently.)

There's something about men and cutting meat, huh?

Moving on, I took ONE picture of the Thornburg Christmas at our house.  SO SAD! But I did get one of Brian in his new Christmas PJs.

HA! I shouldn't torture my dog like that!

At the Keiper Christmas, we got to see the Injured Brother close up.  EWWWWW!!! Poor guy! He had surgery on his collarbone.  He had broken it in 5 places, not 4.  It was not only broken and shifted but twisted too.  So now he has 16 staples and some major metal going on inside there.  I do realize that you cannot really see the wound here but he is in a tank top.  I had to get a picture of THAT.  The wound looks good.  You can see a little bruising but it's healing really well.  He should be back to sandboarding, or skatewaking, or whatever it is he does, in no time.

The next fun Christmas Activity is called Let's Play With The Stuff That They Gave Adam at the Hospital.
I cannot tell you what this device is called but it's something you suck the air from so the doctors can tell if you have any liquid in your lungs.  Everyone had to try it. The pictures below are Christina and Josh trying.  (Boy, if there's one way to spread H1N1, I think this is it!)

What else did we do? Well the next game was Try On Mom's New Hat. This game is pretty self-explanatory.

In Soviet Russia, Vodka drinks you!

By the way, this link is in case you wanted to imitate a Russian accent.  We were having a little trouble.

Next on the list, we opened gifts.  Mom got a calendar.  We thought it would be funny to make fun of how mom and dad would look at this calendar. Yes, those are mom's glasses.

Mom looks at calendar

Dad looks at calendar

We're so mean.

By the way, did you know there is an I Can't Believe It's Not Butter channel? My parents found this in their cable listings.

This is channel that plays a song called "Turn the Tub Around" to the beat of "Turn the Beat Around" by Gloria Estefan all day long.  You can press select and sing Karaoke with Megan Mullally.
Jack McFarland would be sorely disappointed.

Back to the gifts... I got awesome gifts this year.  People are so thoughtful!
Here's an example of one gift.

*CORRECTION: My mom got me lenses for my iPhone.  They are awesome.  This is the fly eye lens.  I will be having some fun with these!!

And now it's time for the videos...
Lilli discovered she could do this when Grandpa Mike showed her how at Don Pablos during the summer.

Isabel is always wanting me to tape her dancing.  There is never any music so I added some.  This is the kind of music I picture going on inside her head. (Sorry it's sideways.)

So Christmas was fantastic.  I already miss it! To convey my thoughts on the subject, here is a SNL clip.

Snowboarding Season is Over

I got a shocking text this weekend saying, "Adam went snowboarding in Wisconsin and crashed.  Broke his collarbone in four places. At the hospital right now. "
SAY WHAT?
Yep, that's right.  Adam was in an accident.  My parents had to go get him.  Here's his X-ray.

OUCH!!!! Bones are not supposed to do that!!!! So please keep him in your thoughts and prayers because when he's not on Vicodin, he's probably going to need them!

Jack Stafford Meets The Thornburgs

This weekend we drove down to Indianapolis to visit friends and new babies.  First stop, Kevin and Diane Stafford's house to see Jack.

Awww! What a sweetie! Travis and Katie also drove down so we got to see them for the second weekend in a row which was very cool.

The babies got to hang out.  They chillaxed.  They're best friends for life.

We also tried to make them hold hands.

This is Andrew holding Jack with happy dad Kevin in the background.

You may also notice drinks in the background.  The Kahlua signals the point of no return.  We started easily enough with beer.  Then switched to whiskey.  Then we finished the night off with White Russians.  There is no hope for me.  I will never learn.  Yes, I was sick all day on Saturday.  Almost ruined the Christmas party we went to that night.
BUT FIRST...

Andrew and Aaron went to the Purdue game at Conseco.  Boilers won.  Andrew got to sit in the lower level.  After the game, he ran down to the floor with the other 6-10 year old kids and gave hi-fives to the team.  He was very excited about touching the hands of Kramer, Hummel, Grant, Moore, etc.  The Boilers were a little taken aback to see a couple of drunk almost 30 year olds wanting to give hi-fives to the team but the slapped hands anyway.  Then they saw Gene Keady.  Gene responded how classy guys respond to two drunkards with, "Gentlemen" and shook their hands.  It was Purdue Heaven for Andrew this weekend.  He couldn't have been happier.

Saturday night we made our way to Glover's 3rd Annual Christmas Party.  It's fun to see the same people once a year, year after year, to catch up on their lives.  The only way we know these people is through this Christmas party and it's always so fun.  Andrew got eliminated in the first round of beer pong.  Bummer.  But I think after the Purdue game, it was probably a good thing!
Maria and Amanda were able to stop by so I got some time with quite a few Indy friends over the weekend.

Then there was the ring event.  Megan grabbed the rings of most of the girls at the party and modeled them for us.

If you look closely, you can see the shocker in the middle is a 2.5 carat diamond.  You have got to be kidding me! They make those??? I had no idea.
(Whenever I see huge diamonds like that, I always think of the comedian who said, "Yeah before girls get engaged they're like, Blood diamonds are so evil.  But when they're about to get engaged they say, Get me a blood diamond and make it extra bloody!" Yeah, I know it's terrible but it's the first thing that comes to my mind.)
Anyway, Megan is a hostess with the mostess.  She makes the most amazing food for her parties!  The sad thing is when it comes to late night at the Glover Christmas Party, we want hot dogs. Megan was kind enough to make them for us!

We laughed the entire time.  Here is all this great food on the table and we wanted hot dogs.  Jeez.

Great weekend once again.  One of these days I will learn, dang it! No more White Russians, EVER.
