We took a road trip to Syracuse last weekend. We waited to tell Tommy until the beginning of the week. It was a good thing because he talked about it ALL WEEK. He knows his days of the week now so every single day we would go through the days and then he would say, "And then Saturday, we go to Syracuse!!"
(Look at that hair!) We hoped he would take a nap on the trip. He did not. For the first hour of the trip, he sat and just talked and mumbled to himself. He didn't have anything to do! I thought he might cave and go to the sleep. Wrong-o. So then we gave him his iPad for some fun for him and silence for us.
Charlotte had no problem falling asleep.
Hey, no peeking!
We had dinner at the Oakwood before the play. Charlotte and Aunt Jenny had some quality time during dinner.
Then it was time for the musical.
We've done this before, just not with kids. We explained to Tommy that it was going to be like a movie and that Gaga made it (because she is the director). So it became Gaga's movie, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." The four of us made it through the entire show! We were in and out a lot of course but every time Tommy left for a break, he always wanted to go back in to see Gaga's movie!
He let off some steam at intermission telling some random girl that she looked like his Mama (I took it as a compliment, not sure if she did). He also walked through a crowd of high schoolers and then turned around to the whole family, pointed at the boys and said, "Watch out for THOSE guys." He was quite entertaining!
After the show, Tommy pretended to take tickets while playing on Gaga's iPad. They were both so excited to see each other. It was so cool.
After the show, we stayed at the Oakwood (
we've done this before too!) where they have exceptionally fluffy pillows. Not even Tommy can handle the fluffiness.
The next day before we left, we checked out the house we are renting for our Summer Vacation on the lake. CAN'T WAIT!!
We didn't stop on the way home and that was a mistake. We had peed pants and a massive diaper blowout. Two hours is TOO LONG to go without stopping after a big breakfast. Holy Moly. Straight to the bath with you two.
They loved it.
We had a super fun weekend in the 'Cuse. Tommy loved Gaga's Movie and we were surprised how well the kids did with everything.
Their first musical was a success!
