Good Ol' Tommy T is 15 months old! Can you believe it? He is one and a quarter! Wow.
He had his 15 month appointment today. He loaded up on a fine breakfast of almond butter toast and a banana before the big appointment. (Notice we took the frilly cover of his high chair. It became too annoying to continually wash every other night. Now it's wipe and go. Plus he loves the peek a boo holes in the back.)
He waited patiently in the waiting room.
Man, that kid is cute.
He's grown two inches since his last well check. He is now 31 inches tall and 23 pounds 7 oz. He's still running directly along the 50th percentile line like usual. When the nurse measured him at first, she got 32 inches. But the doctor basically said, "Whoa whoa whoa, I don't think so." If he would have been that whole inch taller, his weight would have been under his normal percentile range and then the doctor would have been concerned that he was underweight. But he obviously hasn't seen this kid eat. It's seriously all he does. He's got the teeny belly to prove it!
He'll even measure it for ya!
So they remeasured him and he is right where they thought he was. I mean, it's a real scientific process in the first place. Lay down on the paper roll. Mark where his head and feet are. Then use a paper tape measure to figure out the inches. I can't imagine why they needed to remeasured a wiggly toddler. Weird.
So let's move on... he got his vaccines which were even worse than normal. He's now at the stage where he doesn't get over it as quickly so he continued to cry and cry. Poor baby. Eventually he did. So brutal though. :( Not even his Scout Dog made him feel better.
What's the latest with Thomasaurus?
Talking
This kid TALKS... and talks... and talk and talks and talks. We have no idea what he's saying half the time. Sometimes we can pick out a few words here and there. Then sometimes he sounds like he's saying actual sentences. He threw his ball over the kiddie gate and he really sounded like he whined, "Ohhh maaaa balllllll!" We're pretty sure he said the S-word in the tub the other day too. Where does he pick up this stuff?? :-)
In other news, I have been trying to teach him the Muppet Babies song from Muppets Take Manhattan and it's driving Andrew completely bonkers. See if you can figure out why. :-) Please tell me you remember this song!?!?
Every time I get to the poop poop part, Andrew sighs and says, "That is horrible." He's just jealous. So far, Tommy has gotten the Mama Dada part. Only time will bring the Poop Poop part. Can't wait. ;-) Heehee!
Animals and Body Parts
If you catch the little man at a perfect time, you can ask him and he will point to his nose, ears, hair, mouth and belly. He even tries to say belly but it sounds a lot like ball. He can say a lot of animals too. He knows dog for sure. He finds dogs everywhere! It sounds a lot like DAH though. Which makes it hard to distinguish between dog and duck but on a good day, he knows both. He said cow tonight which he hasn't said in awhile. Sometimes he will say Ruff Ruff Ruff like in one of his books. That's a rarity too.
Utensils
He is still trying to use a spoon. Tonight while eating his vegetables, he would place a single pea on his spoon and put it in his mouth. Progress!
Climbing
He started climbing. Yikes!
He loves to climb on the couch. Scares the crap out of me!! I just have to keep my eye on him constantly.
Tricks
I realized the other day that Tommy is smarter than I imagined. Welcome to the party, Morgan. Kids ARE smarter than you realize. How did I realize this, you ask? Well, I have been playing the distraction card on him when he starts to throw a fit. He will want to do something I don't want him to do and he will start to wail a little and I will say, "Nope, you can't do that. Where's your ball?" He will forget what he's upset about and start looking for a ball. Well... now when he's doing something he's not supposed to do, like hitting, I will try to discipline him and he will use the same tactic on me. He will look across the room and point at something and say some unintelligible word like "Hey Mom, look over there at that thing and forget what you were about to discipline me for doing!" with the most innocent look you've ever seen. What a stinker! He's gotten wise to my tricks and turned them against me. Dang it.
Always have to be on my feet!
Happy One and One Quarter Birthday Tommy T!!
