The hospital where I am going to give birth offers classes of all kinds. Tonight we decided it might be fun for Tommy to attend the class for brand new siblings called "Especially for Children." It was free and we would get a tour of the hospital so we went for it. Andrew ended up getting stuck in Fort Wayne for work so I had to take him by myself. Not a problem but taking Tommy anywhere by myself at this stage is pretty darn exhausting.
The nurse giving the class said she would fit the class to the age group that was there. There was a 10 year old, 4 four-year olds and 2 two-year olds. So the class was a little above Tommy's head but he did great.
The first part of the class was a movie. Sweet! It featured a pirate and a parrot named Carrot. The movie talked about what was going to happen when the baby arrived. Or ARRRRRRRived, I guess. Ha!
Then we practiced changing, swaddling and holding a baby. He's a natural! Except he was poking the baby in her eyes and mouth. Might want to work on that.
We went on a tour of the delivery unit. All the kiddos took turns pressing buttons on the beds to raise it up and down. Now that's a treat!
They also enjoyed looking out the window to the parking lot.
Since Tommy Hawk was such a good boy, we had Chick-Fil-A for dinner. You're looking at a guy who was well-behaved AND stayed dry all through the class! I was wayyyy too afraid to let him attend wearing big boy undies so he wore a pull-up but he would have been fine. What a big boy!
I think someone is ready to take on that big brother role! Way to go, Thomasaurus!
